Comparison of Primary Cesarean Rates: Utah vs. Kentucky

By Jill Arnold

From two states that publicly report AHRQ Inpatient Quality Indicator #33, Primary Cesarean delivery rate.

Unfortunately, Utah averages three years (2009-2011) and Kentucky reports only 2011. This is one limitation of this comparison and one even bigger limitation of public reporting in general-- no publicly-available standardized dataset for all fifty states.

Utah's total cesarean rate according to 2010 final data was 23.1%, while Kentucky's rate was 35.4%.
